Take the Connection Pledge: Reach out to three people this week
Loneliness doesn’t always look the way we think it does.
It can hide behind a packed calendar, show up as short replies or linger even in a crowded room. Hello4Health invites you to take a simple, powerful step toward stronger connection: reach out to three people this week. A quick message or a short conversation can go a long way.

Why three?
We chose three because it’s enough to make an impact — on you and on the people you reach out to — but not so many that it feels overwhelming. The truth is, you don’t need hours of deep conversation to feel more connected. Even small interactions, like a text or a short conversation, can boost your mood and improve your social well-being.
Need ideas on how to start?
If it’s been a while or if reaching out feels awkward, that’s OK. Here are a few low-pressure conversation starters to help you break the ice:
- “Hey! I saw something that reminded me of you today.”
- “Just wanted to check in! How’s your week going?”
- “I’ve been thinking about you. Want to catch up soon?”
- “What’s something good that happened for you lately?”
These aren’t just messages. They’re invitations to be seen, to reconnect and to show you care.
How to keep it simple
Not sure what type of connection works best? Here are a few ideas:
- Send a funny meme or article to a friend.
- Call a friend or family member while on a walk.
- Invite a coworker to meet for coffee or lunch.
- Look through old photos and send one to a friend.
- Write a short thank-you note to someone who helped you recently.
It doesn’t have to be fancy. It just has to be real.

What happens when we connect?
Research shows that strong social connections are one of the biggest predictors of long-term health and happiness. And the benefits go both ways: When you reach out to someone else, you’re giving them a boost, too.
Taking the time to connect can:
- Reduce stress and feelings of isolation
- Boost your mood and sense of belonging
- Encourage healthier habits and routines
Ready to take the pledge?
This week, make it your goal to connect with three people in a small but meaningful way. Then, reflect on how it made you feel.
It’s one of the simplest ways to care for your well-being — and someone else’s.
